4/7/2016 0 Comments Creativity and Love366 Days of Creativity Week in Review: 4.1.16-4.7.16Creating everyday, whether or not you feel like it.
I guess it makes sense some days I would really like what I create and some days feel like I have no idea really where I'm going or I do something and don't really love it. But maybe if I never created or created only sporadically I would never get to the ones I love.

3/31/2016 0 Comments Creativity and InspirationWeek in Review: 3.25.16-3.31.16Can't believe I'm three months done. My art quote jar is almost empty so I've been working on getting the next batch ready. I am a quote collector and already had a document started and added more from my various places. Then I counted - 70! Oh no! I needed 270+. Thankfully my friend who gave me the quotes in the first place came to my rescue and had so many more. So I've been printing, cutting, and stuffing into my jar. So many quotes!
3/24/2016 0 Comments Creativity and Letting GoWeek in Review: 3.18.16-3.24.16To me the word LEGO means a lot. I wrote in January about the actual meaning of the word LEGO but I'll repeat it here. From Lego.com: "The name 'LEGO' is an abbreviation of the two Danish words 'leg godt', meaning 'play well'." I love that meaning and to me it emphasizes a major theme I am working on this year (thus one of the reasons for having created a magical play creative workshop series to encourage others to join in). But the word LEGO also means more to me. The picture above is from my courage cork board and I liked how I could use the letters of LEGO with the addition of only a few letters to mean a few other themes as well.
LEtGO and LEtGOd. 3/18/2016 0 Comments Creativity Outside the BoxWeek in Review: 3.11.16-3.17.16So I know everyone who is reading this has seen the movie: A LEGO Brickumentary.
Oh you haven't. Well it's a documentary, about LEGO bricks. If you need to know more check it out on Amazon. In the Brickumentary, there is a competition as part of an event were people were challenged to build something of their own, but using the same LEGO kits. So, on day 72 when I was feeling uninspired, God sent His inspiration (reference to the Day 72 quote, see the slideshow below with the week's creations and quotes) and gave me the idea to try the same exercise with one of the LEGO kits my sweet husband had bought me. 3/11/2016 1 Comment Creativity SpeaksWeek in Review: 3.4.26 - 3.10.16This past week I feel like I've gotten lots of messages about work and money and rest and doing your best. The messages came in many forms - quotes, LEGO creating, people, gifts, and more ways I'm sure I just can't remember.
I continue to hear don't worry about the money and it's not about money. Week in Review: 2.26.16-3.3.16“A painting is never finished – it simply stops in interesting places.” –Paul Gardner Well, that may be true for paintings but not for LEGO™ creations that you take apart!!
2/26/2016 0 Comments Creativity and The UnknownWeek in Review: 2.19.16-2.25.16If you read my last Week in Review you know I was going to try and PLAY without an end creation in mind.
It was actually a bit challenging. 2/19/2016 1 Comment Creativity and Getting StartedWeek in Review: 2/12/16-2/18/16I am currently enrolled in two art e-courses, so I have been doing some painting along with my LEGO creations.
One of the things I noticed is that I am much more free starting out with a painting. It's all about just getting paint and texture and variety on there and you can always cover it up later, in fact you usually do (which is a whole other part of the creative process). 2/12/2016 0 Comments Creativity and ConnectionsWeek in Review: 2.5.16-2.11.16It's a gorgeous day in Texas today so I'm going to keep this post short and sweet.
2/5/2016 1 Comment Creativity and SharingWeek in Review: 1.29.16-2.4.16Hey guess what? It's February! That means I've already done a month of LEGO creations! I know you want to see my LEGO calendar so here you go:
1/29/2016 1 Comment Creativity is UncomfortableGetting outside the comfort zone, and into the pit of bricks Week in Review: 1.22.16-1.28.16Yes, that's me in the pit of bricks. Yes, all the other adults are sitting outside of the brick pit. Yes, it was a bit uncomfortable sitting on bricks. I almost didn't get in, I was thinking about it and almost said "nah," but a few kids suddenly left and a space a grown person could fit into opened up so I dove in.
1/22/2016 0 Comments Creativity and BelievingWeek in Review: 1.15.16-1.21.16Well I did realize something kind of funny this week. My so called 365 Days of Creativity will actually be 366. 2016 is a Leap Year. I thought maybe I should take the day off when it comes, but I think I'll keep the streak alive.
This post is going to be short and sweet because this week has been anything but short and sweet. 1/15/2016 2 Comments Creativity ProvidesWeek in Review: 1/8/16-1/14/16From Lego.com: "The name 'LEGO' is an abbreviation of the two Danish words 'leg godt', meaning 'play well'."
So that's what's in a name (my teaser from last week), and I love it. Playing well insights this week: 1/8/2016 4 Comments Creativity BeginsWeek in Review: 1.1.16-1.7.16I'm doing an experiment in creativity. For 2016, I will build using LEGO blocks everyday. I'm doing this experiment for several reasons and will write about those later. Right now, I want to reflect on how the first week has gone and the daily process.
